Teacher Interview Questions (and How to Answer Them)
Interview panels hear the same clichés all day. Specific examples and calm structure beat buzzwords.
Behaviour question
Expect: ‘Tell us about a challenging class.’ Use context → action → impact → what you refined. Mention school policy and relationships, not just sanctions.
Inclusion / SEND
Show you adapt teaching without lowering ambition. Talk about knowing pupils, working with TAs, and checking understanding — not a laminated strategy poster.
Safeguarding
Be precise: notice, reassure carefully, record, report to the DSL. Do not invent investigative heroics.
A reliable answer structure
- Name the situation briefly
- Say what you did (specific actions)
- Share the result for pupils
- Add one thing you would refine
